FAYTHE  HARRIERS - U12’s – ‘Hurling Trip To Cork’

What A Weekend! We left St Josephs Club at 1.30pm on Good Friday to head for Cork. Spirits were high among both the players and the adults. Treats for the kids were provided on the Bus and spirits were lifted even further by the DVD of the 1996 All Ireland Final.

At approximately 4.45PM we arrived at the Rochestown Park Hotel. We were warmly greeted by the Management and Staff. After checking into our rooms we left for the Blackrock Hurling Club. A lively series of matches took place between the Harriers and Blackrock (see www.faytheharriers.com for a selection of pictures). Special thanks must be paid to the Blackrock Club for the food and drinks that were served to us after the games. We are very appreciative of how they looked after both the players and adults to their club.

Upon arrival back at the Hotel a Table Quiz was held where all players were presented with Medals for participating in the Quiz and in memory of their Trip To Cork. At approximately 11.30PM the Players retired to their Rooms.S aturday morning breakfast was served in the Hotel at 8AM. We checked out of the Hotel and travelled to Fota Island at 9.30AM. The players were highly entertained looking at the various exotic animals. We left Fota at 12.30pm and travelled to Waterford (stopping off at McDonalds in Dungarvan for food).

A superb series of Matches were played in Waterford with the Harriers giving a display of Hurling (once they warmed up) that showed the commitment the players have put into their Training. Special thanks to the Coaches of Roanmore (who will be travelling to Wexford in the coming months to play the Harriers).

Travelling back to Wexford, both the players and the adults were in very high spirits.

Special thanks to the four ladies that accompanied us on the Trip; Ann Slaven, Ann Walsh, Dolores Lynch and Melanie Carroll - their assistance was gratefully appreciated.

Thanks also to Paud Browne (Chairman Of The Club) who travelled with us on the Trip. We are very grateful for his help with the organisation of the players and matches.

Thanks also to my fellow Coaches; Tony and Paul – we had a great time organising this Trip. Finally a word of thanks to you the parents and guardians of our U12 Players for allowing them to travel with us to Cork. They were a Credit to you and also to their Club.‘Up The Harriers’.

A series of fundraising events are currently being organised to contribute towards the Cost of this and future excursions.

Nicky Keeling has organised a ‘Bag Packing Day’ in Dunnes Stores (29,30 & 31st July).

A ‘Flag Day’ has still to be organised.
